1. Acceptance of these terms

These terms are a binding agreement between you and internship.ai ("internship.ai", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, joining a waitlist, starting a simulation, enrolling in a virtual internship, or otherwise using any part of the services, you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services.

If you use the services on behalf of a company, school, university, non-profit, or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation, and "you" includes that organisation.

Additional terms may apply to specific programmes, such as an employer agreement, an education partnership agreement, or a sponsored non-profit cohort agreement. If those additional terms conflict with these terms, the additional terms prevail for that programme.

2. Definitions

  • Services: the internship.ai websites, applications, job simulations, virtual internships, custom job simulations, verified credentials, profiles, CV tools, and any related feature we provide.
  • Simulation: an interactive work exercise, including briefs, datasets, tasks, rubrics, grading, and feedback, that models the work of a role.
  • Virtual internship: a structured multi-task programme completed through the services, which may lead to a reference letter or verification page.
  • Verified credential: a record we issue describing work you completed through the services and the result you achieved.
  • Submission: any content you create or upload through the services, including answers, code, files, documents, recordings, messages, and profile or CV content.
  • Organisation partner: an employer, hiring team, educator, institution, enterprise, or non-profit that uses the services under a programme.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to use the services. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these terms and consents to your use. If you access the services through a school or non-profit programme, that organisation may also need to hold consents for you.

When you create an account you agree to:

  • provide accurate, current, and complete information, and keep it updated;
  • keep your credentials confidential and not share your account with anyone else;
  • notify us promptly at hello@internship.ai if you suspect unauthorised use of your account; and
  • accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

We may refuse, suspend, or reclaim any account or username, including where required by law or where an account is inactive, misleading, or infringes another person's rights.

4. The services

4.1 Job simulations

Simulations model the work of real roles. Completing a simulation does not create an employment relationship, an internship, an offer, or any entitlement to a role with us or with any company, including a company whose listing inspired the simulation. Grades and feedback are assessments of your submission against our rubrics and are not professional, financial, or careers advice.

4.2 Custom job simulations

Where we offer the custom job simulation feature, you may submit a link to a public job listing and we generate a simulation modelled on it. You must only submit links you are lawfully permitted to share. Generated simulations are provided for practice and assessment and do not imply any affiliation with, or endorsement by, the company behind the listing.

4.3 Virtual internships

Virtual internships are educational programmes, not employment. Unless expressly stated otherwise in a specific programme's terms, they are unpaid, do not create an employment, agency, or contractor relationship, and any reference letter or verification we issue describes programme work only.

4.4 Profiles and introductions

Where you opt in, we may share your profile, verified credentials, or graded work with organisation partners who are recruiting. We do not guarantee that any introduction, interview, or offer will result. Hiring decisions are made solely by the organisation partner.

5. Waitlists and early access

Parts of the services may be offered as waitlists, previews, betas, or early access. These are provided for evaluation, may be incomplete or contain errors, may change or end at any time without notice, and may be subject to additional terms. Joining a waitlist does not guarantee access.

6. Fees

The services are currently provided free of charge to candidates. We may introduce paid features in the future. If we do, we will publish pricing and obtain your agreement before charging you. Organisation programmes may be subject to separately agreed fees.

7. Organisation programmes

If you participate as an organisation partner:

  • you must only use candidate data made available to you to evaluate candidates for genuine roles or programmes, consistent with our Privacy Policy and applicable law;
  • you must not use the services to discriminate unlawfully against any candidate;
  • content you provide to build branded simulations must be accurate, lawful, and yours to provide, and you grant us a licence to host, adapt, and display it to operate the programme;
  • you are responsible for your own compliance with employment, education, and privacy laws that apply to your use of results; and
  • sponsored programmes for educators and non-profits are subject to the scope agreed for that programme.

8. Job listings and third-party content

Role listings shown on the services are aggregated from public career pages, partner integrations, and direct postings. Companies retain ownership of their listings, trade marks, and brands. Display of a listing does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by the company unless expressly stated. Listings may change or be withdrawn by their owners at any time, and we are not responsible for their accuracy.

9. AI-generated content

Parts of the services are generated or assisted by artificial intelligence, including simulation briefs, datasets, tasks, grading, feedback, and some imagery. AI output can contain errors, omissions, or content that does not reflect a real company's practices. We review and improve these systems, but we do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. Do not rely on it as professional advice.

10. Your content

You retain ownership of your submissions. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, display, and process your submissions in order to:

  • operate, grade, and improve the services;
  • issue and display verified credentials you have earned;
  • share your work with organisation partners where you have opted in; and
  • comply with law and enforce these terms.

You are responsible for your submissions. You must have the rights to everything you submit, and your submissions must not infringe any third party's rights or contain unlawful material. We may remove or refuse any submission that we reasonably believe breaches these terms.

11. Verified credentials and integrity

Verified credentials describe work completed through the services. Their value depends on integrity, so you agree that:

  • all assessed work must be your own, except where a task expressly permits collaboration or tool use;
  • you will not misrepresent a credential, alter it, or present it as something it is not;
  • we may revoke or annotate a credential if we determine it was obtained through cheating, plagiarism, impersonation, unauthorised assistance, or other misconduct; and
  • employers and other verifiers may view the verification page for a credential you share with them.

12. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law, or encourage or help anyone else to do so;
  • cheat in assessments, submit plagiarised work, impersonate another person, or sit an assessment for someone else;
  • upload malicious code, probe or breach our security, or test the vulnerability of any system without our written permission;
  • scrape, harvest, or bulk-download content or data from the services, or access the services by automated means except through interfaces we provide;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or copy the services or the simulations, or build a competing dataset or product from them;
  • resell, rent, or commercially exploit the services without our written agreement;
  • harass, abuse, defame, or harm other users, our staff, or any third party;
  • upload content that is unlawful, infringing, deceptive, obscene, or discriminatory;
  • use candidate data for any purpose other than the recruitment or programme purpose it was shared for;
  • interfere with the operation of the services or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure; or
  • circumvent any access control, rate limit, or usage restriction.

13. Intellectual property

The services, including software, simulations, rubrics, datasets we author, designs, text, graphics, logos, and their selection and arrangement, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the services for their intended purpose. No other rights are granted. Third-party trade marks, including company names and logos shown with listings, belong to their owners.

14. Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions, or other feedback about the services, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it without restriction or compensation.

15. Third-party services

The services may link to or interoperate with third-party sites and services, including job boards, sign-in providers, and communication tools. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that service's own terms.

16. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It forms part of these terms.

17. Availability and changes

We are actively building internship.ai. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features, simulations, programmes, or the services as a whole at any time. Where a change materially reduces something you rely on, we will use reasonable efforts to give notice, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and scheduled or emergency maintenance may limit availability.

18. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that:

  • the services, simulations, grades, or feedback will be accurate, complete, or reliable;
  • using the services will lead to any interview, offer, employment, admission, or other outcome; or
  • the services will be secure, uninterrupted, or free of defects.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded. If you are a consumer under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or equivalent legislation and are using the services for personal use, those statutory guarantees apply despite anything else in these terms.

19. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to the services;
  • we are not liable for hiring, admission, or programme decisions made by organisation partners, or for the conduct of any user or third party; and
  • our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the services in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and NZD 100.

These limits apply regardless of the theory of liability and even if we have been advised of the possibility of the loss, except where the law does not allow such limits.

20. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us and our officers, employees, and agents against claims, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your submissions, your breach of these terms, your violation of law, or your infringement of any third party's rights. This clause does not apply to the extent it is unenforceable against you as a consumer under applicable law.

21. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the services and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, remove content, or revoke credentials if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, created risk or legal exposure for us or others, or where required by law. Where practical, we will give you notice and an opportunity to export your data. Clauses that by their nature should survive termination do survive, including clauses 10, 13, 14, and 18 to 23.

22. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand. If you use the services from elsewhere, you are responsible for compliance with local laws, and any mandatory consumer protections of your place of residence are not affected. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to first contact us and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally.

23. General terms

  • Entire agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy, and any programme-specific terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the services.
  • Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
  • No agency. Nothing in these terms creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship between you and us.
  • Notices. We may give notices through the services or to the email on your account. Legal notices to us should go to hello@internship.ai.
  • Force majeure. We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

24. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and give notice through the services or by email. Changes apply from the date they are posted. If you keep using the services after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using the services and close your account.
